Offices

Whether the asset manager of a REIT or the facilities manager of a corporation, people responsible for the energy efficiency of office buildings covet LEED certification. As part of LEED v3, the latest version of the U.S. Green Building Council’s program for green building design, construction, operations and maintenance, buildings seeking LEED certification will begin submitting operational performance data on a recurring basis as a precondition to certification.  SCIwatch meets this requirement as a core part of the basic subscription service.

"SCIwatch’s ability to quantify potential losses is of key interest to us. For example, if the system issues a flag that something is not working properly or is beginning to drift it will quantify what that failure is costing the county. That helps us prioritize where to direct our attention."

- Lin Ortega, Santa Clara County

Retail

From the forty sophisticated 100,000+ square foot stores of Nieman Marcus to the over 3,000 compact restaurants of Carl’s Jr and Hardee’s, retailers face a daunting task in managing building fleets that vary widely in equipment and geography.  SCIwatch is the first service to seamlessly and economically span the full expanse of a retailer’s properties to provide actionable and persistent information that improves energy and operational efficiency. SCI’s deep expertise in linking into all prevalent building automation systems and abstracting data makes for seamless, “plug and play” deployment. For example, SCIwatch brought 49 Hardee’s stores on-line in one day. Our SaaS subscription fee is based on building square footage, making the solution highly affordable and economically straightforward.

“This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time. It has the potential to be a “no excuses” must-do killer app.”

- Rob Watson, Executive Editor GreenerBuildings.com

"As a heuristic system, SCIwatch deepens its knowledge of my system environment the more I deploy it. SCIwatch is the embodiment of where building management is headed. Especially with expected equipment and energy costs going higher each year."

- Mark Boraski, Vice President of Property Management with Neiman Marcus

Institutional

SCIwatch’s advanced math diagnostics adapt to the unique energy and operational processes found in hospitals, universities, government facilities and schools. The platform was prototyped at NASA’s Ames Research Facility in Mountain View, California – a large data center serving aerospace labs as well as engineering office buildings.

Public sector buildings usually are mandated to be first adopters in implementing the latest energy and environmental efficiency measures and are continually looking for ways to reach the next tranche of savings. SCIwatch fulfills the search.

At a broader level of government, SCIwatch’s Nexant certified baselines will play a key role in satisfying requirements for emerging regional and federal carbon credit programs.

"The problem of energy drift is very real but incredibly difficult to measure. That’s what makes SCIwatch so interesting and valuable. It alarms facility managers when a system is in danger of a major failure or operating outside of appropriate efficiency tolerances, so facility costs don’t spiral out of control."

- Jorge Moreno, Analyst, Environmental & Building Technologies Frost & Sullivan
